Blazer commentators on NBA TV are the worst ever!

Dear NBA TV,

Please replace whoever it is that is manning the broadcast booth when the Blazers are playing at home against the Rockets. These commentators are absolute homers. They frame their game 1 loss against the Rockets as "expected" because the Blazers are a young team. They also framed their losses in games 3 and 4 as "so close" that the blazers only lost by a combined four points. What. The. Fuck.

Ok. I don't give a crap if your team is young or not. You, having home court, are "expected" to win at home. No ifs, ands or buts. Don't try and minimize your loss on the Blazers' youth. You had home court. The fans were cheering for you. The Rockets were playing MINUS McGrady. You have Brandon Roy. And yet, the commentators still found a way to minimze the loss and blame it on youth. And framing your loses in games 3 and 4 as "so close" that you can feel the Blazers turning it around is absolutely stupid. In the playoffs, losing is losing. There are no moral victories. You lose, you go home.

These commentators are absolute homers. Whenever a Blazer hits a shot, the commentators yell and scream and say "yessss!" as if a fan is commentating for the game. They don't analyze the game at all. Instead, they cheer their team, bad mouth the opposing team, and sound just like any fan in the arena. More than the idiotic things that these commentators say is that they yell A LOT. I have never heard commentators yell so much for their team. It got so bad that at one point I decided to hit the mute button.

If you don't believe me, just google Portland Trailblazers commentators and you'll get a slew of hits about how bad these commentators are. Please, do everyone a favor and fire these clowns.


*Note, I am not a Rockets fan. I just like to watch playoff ball and because of the Blazers commentators, I am seriously considering watching something else.

Edit: Now I know who they are! Rick Kamla and Steve Smith. Please, fire these guys.

Posting for postings sake? Alternate title: What the hell am I doing with my summer?

My headline says it all. Work is good. I now subconsciously add two spaces after every period because of how much work I've done as a legal intern at wherever I work at. Somehow I've managed to pump out a work product in a decent amount of time, but I try and "stretch" the amount of time I spend working just so that I don't get dumped with even more work. I try to limit what I do to one or two assignments per week - mind you I only work three days a week.

So the work life is good. But the social life sucks. It sucks so much that I don't even have a Korean drama to watch right now. Everyone is either busy, lives too far away, or is too much of an acquaintance for me to bother asking if they want to do something on X day or X weekend. The one silver lining in my social life is that I'm finally getting into shape. A combination of Wii Sports and working out at the gym 2-3 days a week has pumped me full of endorphins. Remember all the goals that I had set for myself a few months back? Yea, looks like I should ramp up my efforts or else goals 2 and 3 will not even be attempted this summer.

Raiders' First Day Picks for 2007 Draft

Ok, for my totally uninformed prognostication of what the Raiders should do:

1. Swap picks with the Cleveland Browns. They get the number 1 pick to pick up Jamarcus Russell while we slide to number 3 and pick up their second round pick (36 overall) and their 2008 first round pick. Detroit will pick up Brady Quinn with the number 2 overall pick, leaving the Raiders with Calvin Johnson all for them at number 3.
   
2. Sign David Carr to a 2 or 3 year deal.
   
3. Trade Moss and Courtney Anderson to Greenbay for their third round pick (78 overall) and a conditional 2008 pick.
   
4. And so, we would have picks:
• Round 1 (3rd overall) - Calvin Johnson, WR
  
• Round 2 (33rd overall) - Ryan Kalil, C
• Round 2 (f/Clev, 36th overall) - Justin Blalock, OG
• Round 3 (65th overall) - Trent Edwards, QB
• Round 3 (f/GB, 78th overall) - Josh Beekman, OG
• Round 3 (comp, 99th overall) - Ryan McBean, DT

So now, the Raiders will have David Carr, Andrew Walter, and Trent Edwards battling it out for the QB position. Whatever happens, it will still be an upgrade over last year. Furthermore, Calvin Johnson, Ryan Kalil, Justin Blalock, and Josh Beekman could all conceivably start immediately and/or have an instant impact on the team.

My rationale? Not really a rationale per se but I just kinda feel like Peyton Manning should get a Super Bowl. If you are going to ask me to rationally say who will win? I would tell you the bears, 24 to 17. Defenses win championships and I just don’t see the Colts’ D sustaining the level of play that we’ve seen since the beginning of the playoffs.

I also have a sinking feeling that Rex Grossman will screw up.

Raiders' Offseason Moves

Now that the Oakland Raiders have lost and have clinched the first pick in the 2007 draft, let us think what should the Raiders do in the offseason to fix this embarrassment of a season.

Scenario #1:

• Clean up the mess in management. This will probably not happen with Al Davis still holding onto all the power. This suggestion actually applies to all scenarios but I'll just leave it here.
• Sign two free agent offensive linemen. This move will show any potential free agent quarterback that the Raiders are serious about protecting the QB. My suggestions are at right tackle and at left guard. Let Robert Gallery stay at left tackle for another season to see if he will develop.
• Cut Aaron Brooks and sign Matt Schaub. Have Schaub and Andrew Walter compete for the starting job.
• Trade both Jerry Porter and Randy Moss. Liberal estimates would have Moss for a second round pick and Porter for a third round pick.
• With the overall number one pick in the draft, coupled with two picks in the second round, two picks in the third round, the Raiders will have five picks in the first three rounds.
• Draft Adrian Peterson with the number one pick. He will provide instant help for a QB that might be struggling.
• With the Raiders' second overall pick, draft a run stopping defensive tackle. The Raiders play in a division with Ladainian Tomlinson and Larry Johnson. They must stop the run.
• With the third overall pick (in the second round), draft a defensive end. Tyler Braton is not cutting it.
• With the first of two third round picks, draft a wide receiver to develop.
• With the second of two third round picks, draft a blocking full back.
• Draft the best available player/OL the rest of the way.

Scenario #2:

• Trade Moss and Porter.
• Sign FA OL
• Draft Brady Quinn
• Draft Marshawn Lynch if he is available. If not, draft a run stopping DT.
• Draft a DE
• Draft best available player/OL the rest of the way

Scenario #3:

• Trade Moss and Porter for picks and/or OL
• Sign FA OL
• Cut Brooks and sign Schaub
• Trade the first overall pick to either Detroit, Cleveland, or Washington to stock up on draft picks. The assumption is that all three of those teams will be after Brady Quinn.
• Draft Adrian Peterson
• Draft a run stopping DT
• Draft a DE
• Draft a blocking FB
• Best available player/OL

These are but only three scenarios that may happen. Feel free to add your suggestions.
